West Bengal guv to meet Shah over post-poll violence

New Delhi, June 17 (UNI): Amid the verbal spat with the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah at latter’s residence on Thursday.

Dhankhar is likely to discuss the affairs of state with Shah, including the incidents of political violence allegedly by the ruling Trinamool Congress cadres in the state.

This is his first visit to the national capital after the State Assembly poll result.

Earlier today, Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar called on President Ram Nath Kovind and First Lady Savita Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Dhankhar had earlier taken to Twitter to inform about his meeting with the President.

Dhankhar, who is on a two-day visit to the national capital, arrived here on Tuesday night, met Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Wednesday.

Since the recently concluded Assembly polls, Mr Dhankhar has raised concerns regarding the alleged incidents of political violence in West Bengal.
