Govt asks all MLAs to conduct vaccination drive

Shillong, June 24: The government has urged all sixty legislators to conduct a massive vaccination drive against Covid-19 in their constituencies.

“We request all the MLAs to convene a meeting for conducting a massive vaccination drive in their own respective constituencies,” Health Minister AL Hek told reporters after a review meeting on Covid status on Thursday.

Hek said the Chief Minister and the Speaker will issue letters to all MLAs regarding the need to strengthen the vaccination drive by urging people to come forward and get themselves vaccinated.

The move is because people are still hesitant to get vaccinated.

The health minister said the availability of vaccines as of now is around 98,000.

“We have asked for more vaccines from the Centre,” he said.
