Shillong, July 2: The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports agreed to recognize WAKO India Kickboxing Federation as National Sports Federation (NSF) for promotion and development of sport of Kickboxing in the country with immediate effect with the condition that it shall comply with the provisions of National Sports Development Code of India, 2011 and other relevant guidelines issued by the Ministry from time to time.
WAKO India Kickboxing Federation is affiliated with the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO), which is the International Federation for the sport of Kickboxing.
This recognition means granting a major role to WAKO India Kickboxing Federation for the promotion and development of Kickboxing sport in India.
“Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association is happy to know this and convey our best regards to Santosh K Agrawal President WAKO India for his effort till we could get this recognition,” said Lorenzo Pearson Warjri Working President Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association MSKA.
It is expected that with government recognition of the WAKO India Kickboxing Federation as NSF, the sport of kickboxing will develop at a faster pace in the country.
