Shillong, March 4: The government has spent Rs 29.24 crore for dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Governor Satya Pal Malik, who addressed the Assembly on the first day of the budget session on Friday, said Chief Minister’s Secretariat had taken a number of initiatives under Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund and Chief Minister’s Special Grant during the financial year 2021-22.
“Under the Chief Minister’s Special Grant (CMSG), a total of Rs 29.24 crore was spent on expenditures relating to Covid-19 for the year 2021-22 as on January, 2022,” he said.
This includes an assistance of Rs 50,000 as a one time ex-gratia payment to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19 with effect from April 1, 2021, Malik said.
Further, the Governor informed that Rs 4.7 crore was spent under the CMSG for payment of provision kits for those under home quarantine and for Community Covid Management Teams.
