153 students graduate from Sankardev College
Shillong, Sept 14: As many as 153 students of Sankardev College were recently graduated in Bachelor of Arts and Science Examinations.
They were presented with mementos.
The programme was held on the occasion of Sankardev College’s 62nd Foundation Day.
Lok Sabha MP Ricky AJ Syngkon graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The chief guest presented the Academic Award of Excellence to Badaker Nongneng Daloi, Basynran Wanshong, Bansharai Pius Kharmawshun who secured 1st, 3rd and 5th positions respectively in Khasi and to Barrymore Nongsiej who secured 4th position in Chemistry, in the recent NEHU Under Graduate Examinations 2024.
The chief guest also released research publications by the departments of political science titled “Meghalaya Assembly elections 2023: Issues, Agendas and Commitments of Political Parties” and of the Department of Khasi, namely “Ka Wadbniah Halor ki Jingrwai Khasi kiba Kren Shaphang ka Mei Mariang bad ka Sawdong Sawkun: Ka Sainpyrkhat U Khasi kaba Iasnoh bad ka Mariang bad kumno ban Pynneh Pynsah ne Tyngkai ia ka.”
Syngkon in his speech, lauded the efforts of the college in taking up many important and innovative initiatives, both qualitative and quantitative, which have contributed to the growth and progress of the institution. He appreciated the vision of the Principal and the hard work put in by all the faculty and acknowledged their invaluable services to the students and the society at large. He congratulated and encouraged the students to work hard and inculcate the values of perseverance and dedication, and most importantly, to be good human beings.
The Vice Principal of the College, K. Chyne delivered the welcome address.
This was followed by a video presentation which documented the journey of the College in these 62 years highlighting its history since its inception, the milestones, the varied activities conducted and achievements, both academic and non-academic. The Principal of the College, Dr. Eureka. F. P. Lyngdoh, in her address, congratulated the students for bringing laurels to the college.
Also present were the president and members of the governing body and students of the college. The vote of thanks was proposed by Manbor S. Warjri, IQAC Coordinator and M. Umdor, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, chaired the programme.
