1st Test, Day 1: India 21/0 at stumps, trail England by 162 runs
Nottingham, Aug 4 (UNI) India were 21/0 at stumps after bowling out England for 183 on the opening day of the first Test of the five-match series, here on Wednesday.
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were batting on 9 runs each at the end of the day’s play as India still trail England by 162 runs in their first innings.
Earlier, England lost their remaining six wickets for just 45 runs in the third and final session of the day. They had resumed the last session at 138 for four.
Captain Joe Root, who made 64 off 108 balls, was the top-scorer for England.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful bowler as he picked up four wickets for 46 runs while Mohammed Shami (3/28) and Shardul Thakur (2/41) also picked crucial wickets.
