3 mountain bikers to represent India at Asian Championships

Shillong, Sep 8: Three mountain bikers from the state have been selected to be part of the Indian Downhill Team for the Asian Continental Championships. The event will be held in Trivandrum, Kerala, from October 26-29.

The Cycling Federation of India is conducting a training camp for the selected athletes from September 9-30. Athletes will have to stay in Kerala through the training and till the end of Asians.


This is the first time cyclists and mountain bikers from the state have been selected to represent India. Those selected are¬†Apshai Griffith Niangti, Meban Aiboklang Suiam and Anissa Dariti Lamare, India’s first female Downhill Mountain bike rider.

A cross-country rider, Kevin John Khyllait, will also be trained in the camp following which another selections will be held for this discipline to finalise the XC Indian Team.
