Lumpy Skin Disease is over 8k in state
Shillong, June 25:The number of cattle affected due to Lumpy Skin Disease is over 8,000.
Secretary of Animal Husbandry and Veterinery department Manjunatha C said the number of animals infected was 8177 and that of animals recovered was 5884
101 cattle died and the active cases are 2192
Vaccination was carried out on 28595 animals.
According to the official, recovery rate is higher as new infections are showing declining trend.
More than 70 percent of affected animals was recovered due to timely treatment given to them, he said.
‘African Swine Fever contained’
The official said African swine fever is contained and there was no more new deaths of pigs.
The last confirmed death of pig was on June 2 in Ri Bhoi district.
The number of pigs died since January is 238.
