‘Suu Kyi fate will be decided in court’
Naypyitaw, June 28 (UNI/Sputnik): The fate of Myanmar’s former State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi will be decided in court, the commander-in-chief of Myanmar’s armed forces and chairman of the State Administration Council Min Aung Hlaing has said.
“I am not a judge. I cannot say what will happen. I cannot give any orders on what to do with her. Judges will take care of that, in accordance with the law, and then judges will decide what will happen to her, as the law requires it,” Min Aung Hlaing said during an interview with Sputnik.
The Myanmar military overthrew the civilian government in February this year, it claimed electoral fraud by the incumbent government as the reason for this step.
The nation’s de facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, has been put under house arrest.
