Shillong, Nov 5: The cabinet on Friday approved the recommendation of political department to upgrade Mairang Civil Sub Division into a district.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said the new district with Mairang as headquarters will be known as Eastern West Khasi Hills.

The district will be inaugurated on November 10.
