Talks fail, agitation to continue till CEM is removed

Shillong, Feb 21: The meeting of the pressure groups with NPP legislator Thomas Sangma on the removal of GHADC CEM, Rakesh Newar Sangma, failed on Monday.
The groups are against the CEM continuing in office as he is not following the Garo customary laws since his father is a Nepali though mother is a Garo.
During the meeting, Thomas, who is the advisor to chief minister, wanted the groups to suspend the agitation so that they can come up with a decision.
FKJGP leader Pritam Arengh informed on Monday that the protest will continue till the demands, including the removal of the CEM, are met.
Besides the removal.of CEM, other demands are to make separate electoral rolls for GHADC to bar others from contesting polls, codification of Garo customary laws, the need to reinstate NGEA members against whom action was taken and the release of salary to the GHADC employees.
