Shillong, April 12: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday discussed the threat of Lawei Ba Phyrnai during the meeting held with the special Director General of Police, Idashisha Nongrang.
“I cannot share all the details but what is important is that we are working very seriously on this entire situation not just from technology point of view but also from the point of view of law and order and steps are being taken,” he told reporters on Tuesday.
He added that the police are working to crack on the threat messages of Lawei Ba Phyrnai.
Claiming to be a terror outfit, it had issued threat to plant series of bomb attacks on educational institutions.
Unemployment of educated youths and the plight of teachers were highlighted by the group while issuing the threat.
The chief minister reviewed the law and order situation in the state and took updates on the matter from Nongrang.
He said the state government, the police and the home department are taking every situation seriously.
“Anything related to law and order, even an email that comes in for us it is a serious matter .There is no question of the state government taking that lightly. So we are on the job and the department is working very hard and over time to crack this particular case,” Conrad said.
The latest email sent by the group was regarding the mysterious death of Daisy Shallam and its connection with the relative of an MLA.
When asked about this, the chief minister said he will have to look into the matter as he has not seen the email.
Recruitment process
The chief minister said the state government will resolve the issue pertaining to court order which stayed all recruitment processes of the state government until a roster system is put in place.
Sangma said he had reviewed the matter in a meeting held with the chief secretary and the personnel department.
“We are preparing the affidavit to reply to all the concerns that have been raised by the high court and we hope will be able to move forward in a positive way and get this matter resolved as there are many areas and many recruitment boards like the police and education which are conducting large numbers of recruitments in the state and so we want them to go through,” he said.
