Block to declare Pala’s candidature
Shillong,May 29: Shillong MP Vincent Pala is set to contest from Sutnga-Saipung Assembly constituency and he entrusted the block Congress to take a decision in this regard.
Pala said the move was one month back as there were suggestions from various quarters during a meeting to contest the seat.
The sitting MLA is former Congress member Shitlang Pale who joined the AITC.
Shitlang will leave AITC and is expected to contest from UDP.
The NPP will also field a candidate.
‘Most of them compelled me to fight the election in the second meeting, so I decided to tour villages to know the mind of the voters”, Pala said.
No vacancy for Cong rebels to contest
Pala made it clear that even if the Congress rebels return, they will not get party tickets to contest the next polls. “But I don’t think they will come back”, he said while denying reports that the Congress is making efforts to bring back former CLP leader Mukul Sangma.
Response more than expected
Pala said the public meetings of the Congress in a few places witnessed more crowd than expected.
“We are happy with the large gatherings in Mawkynrew and other places’, he added.
Kansing Lyngshiang was declared as the candidate of the party in Mawkynrew.
