
Shillong, Aug 2: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the state government to create awareness on the dangers of teenage pregnancy and its fall out due to conflict with POCSO law.
The court on Tuesday quashed an FIR against a minor girl of 17 years who lived with a man and became pregnant.

Earlier, two more FIRs with similar incidents were quashed by the court.
The single bench headed by justice W Diengdoh said before parting with the case that the Chief Secretary as well as the Member Secretary, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority should conduct an extensive awareness programme to highlight the aspects of the danger of under-aged marriage or cohabitation to avoid unnecessary conflict with the relevant provisions of law.
