Shillong, Sept 13: The sixth prisoner, who was at large, was handed over by the people of Borato to the police on Monday.
Subsequently he was rearrested.
A police official said the under trial prisoner Rikmenlang Lamare (UTP) of Barato village was detected and detained by Barato villagers and handed over to the police.
Lamare had escaped along with five other prisoners from Jowai jail on September 10.
However on September 11, he was not with the group of five who were attacked by an angry mob in a forest area in Shangpung.
Four prisoners I Love You Talang, Shidorki Dkhar, Lodestar Tang and Marsanki Tariang (convict) were lynched by the angry mob on September 12, while another prisoner Ramesh Dkhar from Mihmyntdu, escaped from the crowd, but he was rearrested from Shangpung.
