Shillong, Feb 13: The problem of drugs, security and law and order are among the highlights of the micro manifesto of Kyrsoibor Pyrtuh, who is an independent candidate from North Shillong.

Releasing his plan of action for the constituency, Pyrtuh suggested setting up a North Shillong Drug Education and Prevention Network that will work in areas where drug sale and drug-related crime are on the rise. There will be counsellors coordinating with the network.

Several pockets in the constituency, including the area behind Ajmera complex on GS Road, have witnessed drug-related crime in the past. In 2020, a teenager residing in the slum in the area was killed. Residents had earlier complained about sale of drugs.

For safety and security, Pyrtuh suggested free legal support to victims of domestic violence, hate crimes and sexual assaults; an app that will be connected to police beat houses; adequate CCTV cameras and well-lit streets.

To a query on Harijan Colony, Pyrtuh reiterated his stand on the issue saying, “We, as part of Thma U Rangli Juki, had submitted our suggestions and solutions (to the government) and those are very much doable. My stand remains the same. The Punjabi Lane issue is not a political gimmick for me but a humanitarian crisis and we can solve it together,” he added.

Pyrtuh, who was once associated with the Khasi Students’ Union, said the past association would not affect his relation with non-tribal voters in the constituency despite initial apprehensions among a few.
