Shillong, June 3: Four persons were arrested with drugs in West Garo Hills on Sunday.
West Garo Hills SP VS Rathore said that an Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) operation was conducted last night and early morning on Sunday.
A search was conducted at the house of a suspected drug peddler named Aziar Mondol of Rajpur, Phulbari.
During search, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances of different types were recovered and duly seized.
The seized items are 2.5 kg of ganja, 4.5 grams of heroin, 620 yaba tablets, 39 tablets of Tramadol, 29 tablets of Nitrazepam,10 empty heroin boxes, 12 smoke rolling paper packets, 450 empty viles, Rs 67,840, 9 mobile phones, one TVS Apache Bike (ML-08J-0156) and 10 lighters.
Besides Aziar Mondol (44), three more persons identified as Ziadur Mondol (25), Riazul Mondol (20) and Zobeda Bibi (35), wife of Aziar Mondol were arrested. They are from Rajpur, Phulbari.
Police suspect that the drug peddlers were sourcing drugs from distributors based in neighbouring states and have accumulated a lot of wealth by peddling drugs. A cognizable case was registered at Phulbari police station
Their forward/ backward linkages are being traced, the police official added.
