Sankardev College holds Graduation Day & Foundation Day events

Shillong, Sept 4: Sankardev College commemorated the 61st Foundation Day of the college on September 2. As part of the celebration, a Graduation Day was organised for the recently passed degree students of the College.  Rajya Sabha member  WR Kharlukhi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.


The chief guest presented the Academic Award of Excellence to Hari Lanong who secured 3rd position in Statistics and Kmenshisha Thongni who secured 5th position in Khasi in the recent NEHU under graduate examinations. He also felicitated the teaching faculty and non-teaching staff to honour their 25 years of dedicated service to the college – Dr. Kashinath Chakraborty of the Bengali Department, S. Synrem,  M. Thapa and Bishnu Sharma, all non-teaching staff.
A book titled “Major Environmental Issues in North East India” edited by the faculty of the Department of Botany and Environmental Science was also released by the chief guest.
Kharlukhi lauded the many initiatives of the institution and the progress it has made, both qualitatively and quantitatively, and appreciated the tireless efforts put in by the teachers and their immeasurable and invaluable services to the students and society.

155 students who recently graduated in Bachelor of Arts and Science Examinations were presented with citations.
The principal of the College, Dr. Eureka. F. P. Lyngdoh, delivered the welcome address which was followed by a motivational lecture for the students from Dr. S Maxwell Lyngdoh. Also present were the president and members of the governing body, parents and students of the college. The vote of thanks was delivered by  K. Chyne, vice principal and the programme was hosted by Dr. Reena Singh, vice principal of the college.
