Assam Mukroh panel submits report
Statement claims Mukroh under Karbi Anglong
Shillong, Sep 22: The inquiry commission headed by retired Justice Rumi Phukan submitted the report to Assam Government on Friday.
An official statement said that the commission was constituted by the Governor of Assam vide notification No.-HMA.19015/19/2022 Political (a) H & P (Ecf-250762) dated 23/112022 to inquire into the circumstances leading to the incident occurred on 22/11/2022 ‘at Mukhroh under Zirikinding P.S of West Karbi Anglong District resulting in the death of five civilians and one home guard’.
The report was submitted to the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, home and political Department. The period to complete the inquiry was extended twice as sought for till 22/09/23. The commission examined large number of witnesses and documents produced by forests as well as police department and different organisations.
