Govt to do balancing act on vaccination after HC case
Shillong, June 21: The High Court of Meghalaya took up the suo motu PIL on Monday against the state government on mandatory vaccination.
The Advocate General sought time to take instructions from the concerned appropriate authority of the state government regarding the suggestions given by the court on Monday during the course of hearing.
The court suggested a middle path as livelihood of the people should not be affected as the state government carries on with the vaccination of the residents.
Earlier, the East Khasi Hills district administration wanted mandatory vaccination.
An official source said that the government will have to do a balancing act based on the suggestions by the court during the hearing on Monday.
However, the government plans to make Covid testing mandatory.
The court will further hear the matter on June 23.
