
Shillong, May 7: High Court of Meghalaya wanted constitution of a new committee to examine the issue of granting no objection certificate (NOC) for conducting the annual pilgrimage to Krem Mawjymbuin at Mawsynram.
In the order after hearing a petition filed by the Yatra, the bench headed by Justice HS Thangkhiew on Wednesday said, “In this backdrop, therefore this Court considers it expedient for the ends of justice, that a fresh committee be constituted in terms of the order 14.08.2024.
The Deputy Commissioner will propose the names within 10 days.
The court had passed an order on August 14, that the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District should propose the names of the entities and persons or stakeholders who were to constitute the committee, to examine the matter and to arrive at a solution that is acceptable to all.
The court said a notification was issued later on August 21, 2024 but the Deputy Commission instead of proposing the names to be constituted for the committee, had issued a notification but the petitioner was not included .
