JNC’s ‘beat plastic’ message on World Environment Day

Shillong, June 6: The Jaintia National Council Khliehriat Circle sent out a message on plastic pollution and the community’s responsibility to reduce it on World Environment Day on Thursday.
The event, themed ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, was led by the Council’s president, Shanborlang Bamon, and included a cleanliness drive, distribution of dustbins and tree planting in significant public spaces throughout Khliehriat. This initiative aimed to enhance hygiene, minimise littering and promote long-term environmental sustainability in the area.
“Our rivers, forests and hills are not just natural resources — they represent our heritage, our lifeline and our duty. Let this day motivate us to take meaningful actions for a greener, cleaner, and more resilient Jaintia Hills,” JNC said in a statement.
