Meghalaya bow out with loss to Tamil Nadu in junior football c’ship

Shillong, Jul 26: Meghalaya concluded their campaign in the Junior Boys National Football Championship 2025 (Tier 1) for the Dr BC Roy Trophy on Friday with a 2-1 loss to Tamil Nadu in Amritsar.
Having gone down to defending champions West Bengal and Kerala earlier, Meghalaya finished at the bottom of Group B with 0 points after a gruelling competition against top-class sides, which has given the players much to learn from.
Coach Seibor Sana made two changes to the starting line-up, with Mewanpyntngen Lyngkhoi and Robindor Kyrsian featuring for the first time in place of Dasukbanphrang Diengdoh and Clifford Buam.
A Suresh (34′) produced the first goal of the match for Tamil Nadu, and the score remained 1-0 for nearly 50 minutes until Medonbanshan Kurkalang (81′) equalised with less than 10 minutes remaining on the clock.
However, Meghalaya could not hold on and conceded again to Iniyan Chandar M (90’+4), who scored in stoppage time a few minutes after coming on as a late substitute.
