Shillong, Aug 8: The state government has effected a reshuffle in the Forest Department.
The government appointed D. Sathiyan as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of the Forest Force, bypassing two senior officers.
The government chose to transfer the two senior forest officials, Harish Chandra Chaudhary (1992 batch) and MBK. Reddy (1993) from the forest department as Principal Secretary, Fisheries and Principal Secretary, Mining, respectively..
Sathiyan is junior to Chaudhary and Reddy.
Sources said the reason for transferring the duo was due to their tussle for the top post.
Divisional Forest Officer, East Khasi Hills, Gavade Sachin Shankar was also transferred.

Reddy, IFS (RR: 1993), Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Scheme, Budget, Forest Law and Court Matters) Meghalaya, Shillong is transferred and posted as Principal Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Mining & Geology Department with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.
No.PER.36/2011/Pt.VII/92B- Shri Swapnil Tembe, IAS (RR: 2015), Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Education Department etc., is transferred and posted as Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Finance Department with effect from the date of taking over charge and until further orders.
He is, however, relieved of his functions as State Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Nodal Officer, POSHAN with effect from the date of handing overcharge.
