Shillong, Aug 12: Chief Electoral Officer BDR Tiwari has said measures were taken to make Meghalaya’s electoral rolls error-free.
In response to the allegations of Congress regarding dubious voters, Tiwari said the exercise in the state is very transparent.
“We share the draft electoral rolls with the political parties, besides holding regular meetings with them. Meetings are also held at all levels, and the concerned parties are free to raise issues if there are any. We have not received any complaints from any quarters”, he said.
He asserted that voters can’t have multiple cards, as a single voter can have only one vote and one EPIC.
To a question on dual voters in the Assam-Meghalaya border, Tiwari said, “Meghalaya voters are voting in Meghalaya, and Assam voters cast their votes in that state”.
