Shillong, Sept 5: Police detained an alleged fraudster in front of the Main Secretariat, besides seizing five air guns and three vehicles, on Friday evening
A senior police officer said, according to initial information, the person identified as Meban Snaitang from Mawngap Mawsmai, East Khasi Hills is the one who has been offering jobs to the youths pretending to be Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) staff.
He was accompanied by some bouncers, who were inside the vehicles along with air guns.
He keeps bouncers and guns to impress people, police added.
An eyewitness said that last Wednesday night, when he was returning from Guwahati, he noticed similar vehicles, including the one with the same number plate, flashing the blue and red lights. The vehicles overtook him at Umling, and the occupants didn’t pay toll either.
However, speaking to reporters, Snaitang said that he was doing social work.
Claiming to be the leader of a group, Snaitang wanted to know whether there was any restriction on having private security and air guns.
