Inter School Basketball tourney begins in city

Shillong, Sept 7: The Inter School Basketball Tournament 2025, organised by DUBAKH Sports Pvt. Ltd., started with high intensity and exciting action on the opening day at Pearly Dew Higher Secondary School.
Day 1 witnessed five competitive matches across participating schools, setting the tone for an electrifying tournament ahead.
The tournament was graced by the General Secretary of the Meghalaya Basketball Association, Wallambok Iawphniaw.

1. Mizo Modern H.S.S 39 – 13 Mawkhar Christian H.S.S Top Performers: A. Das (8 pts), L. Mizar (10 pts) for Mizo Modern; S. Thabah (7 pts) for Mawkhar Christian.
2. Jaiaw Presbyterian H.S.S 46 – 43 St. Edmund’s School Top Performers: G. Umlong (27 pts), M. Warjri (9 pts) for Jaiaw Presbyterian; D. Kharbuki (11 pts) for St. Edmund’s.
3. Pearly Dew H.S.S 34 – 23 Shillong Public School Top Performers: D. Suting (19 pts), D. Dohling (8 pts) for Pearly Dew; E. M. Khartharin (10 pts) for SPS.
4. Little Flower H.S.S 36 – 29 Dinet Manik Memorial H.S.S Top Performers: G. Kharbuki (24 pts), M. Mawrie (10 pts) for Little Flower; M. K. Marak (10 pts) for DMMHSS.
5. St. Edmund’s School 39 – 38 Mizo Modern H.S.S Top Performers: D. Kharbuki (13 pts) for St. Edmund’s; B. Ryntong (10 pts) for Mizo Modern.
Tournament Highlights
• The opening clash saw Mizo Modern H.S.S dominate Mawkhar Christian with a commanding 39–13 win.
• The match of the day was the nail-biting encounter between Jaiaw Presbyterian H.S.S and St. Edmund’s School, where Jaiaw edged out St. Edmund’s by just 3 points (46–43) behind a stellar 27-point performance from G. Umlong.
• Pearly Dew H.S.S and Little Flower H.S.S both impressed with strong wins, powered by standout scorers D. Suting and G. Kharbuki, respectively.
• The day ended with a thriller between St. Edmund’s School and Mizo Modern H.S.S, where St. Edmund’s secured a narrow 39–38 victory.
