Bambolim (Goa), Oct 29: NorthEast United FC and Jamshedpur FC shared points after a 2-2 draw in their Group B clash of the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 at the GMC Athletic Stadium, here on Wednesday.

In another rain-soaked evening in Goa, first-half goals from Chema Nunez (20’) and Alaaeddine Ajaraie (29’) put NorthEast United FC 2-0 ahead on the night, but late headers at the end of each half — Pranoy Halder (44’) and Raphael Bouli (89’) drew Jamshedpur level on the night.

Juan Pedro Benali’s men started the game on the front foot and created chances from the onset. The pressure finally paid off when Tondonba’s long throw-in from the left flank was flicked on inside the box by Andy Rodriguez. The flick on was met by Jairo on a volley, but his shot thudded on the crossbar and fell kindly for Chema. The Spaniard, 28, stabbed it home from close range for his first goal in the NorthEast United FC colours.

The Highlanders continued to pile pressure and doubled their advantage nine minutes later. NorthEast United FC constructed a move on the counter, and the ball came to Chema on the right. He floated a sublime cross behind Jamshedpur FC’s backline, where Ajaraie met it with a stunning side-footed volley to find the back of the net.

The Highlanders went into the break with a 2-1 advantage after Halder’s header reduced arrears. In the second half, NorthEast United FC created numerous opportunities to consolidate their lead, but were unfortunate not to score more goals. In the closing stages, Raphael Bouli scored a header to restore parity for Jamshedpur FC.

NorthEast United FC next face FC Goa on November 1 at the Fatorda Stadium in the last group game.
