Pseudo regionalism, says VPP president

BJP too sees irony in national party leading regional outfit

Shillong, Nov 4: VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit called the Conrad-Pradyot-led proposed political platform a pseudo-regional alliance

“Where are the true regional parties in the proposed forum and consultations are lacking, there is no regional alliance since the move is led by the National People’s Party ( NPP), said Basaiawmoit.

Asserting that it is a pseudo-regional party, Basaiawmoit said that if it is a conglomeration of true regional parties, the inclusion of a national party ( NPP), which is the BJP in disguise, is illogical.

“We have not heard of any consultations with other regional parties. It has come out of the blue. What drove them to come to his decision is yet to be seen”, he said.

According to Basaiawmoit, such an important decision can’t be unilateral.

BJP MLA AL Hek wondered as to how the national party (NPP) is leading the proposed regional party.

Regional alliance is supposed to be minus national parties, but in this case, it is different, he said.
