Shillong, Nov 15: The security guards drove away visitors to Wards Lake on Saturday evening.

The gates were closed as early as 7.30 pm to the disappointment of visitors who wanted to have a look at the cherry blossom trees, if not the music.
Contacts were made with the Chief Minister, Tourism Minister, Chief Secretary, and other tourism and government officials, but in vain.
Questions were raised by the visitors as to why they should be denied entry to Wards Lake whereas Polo is open till early hours the next day.
When the issue was raised, a police officer asked this reporter to move away, which, however, was challenged.
