Pressure on NEHU Tura campus Pro-VC to quit

Shillong, Dec 18: Different associations of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Tura Campus have issued a joint appeal to Pro Vice-Chancellor (Pro VC) to resign within 24 hours, citing an “administrative crisis” and “institutional paralysis”.
The appeal, signed by NEHUSU, NEHUTA, NEHUNSA, METTA, and KSU-NEHU Unit, highlights the absence of a regular Vice-Chancellor, severe administrative instability, and resignation of key functionaries.
“We jointly and respectfully request you to tender your resignation from the post of Pro Vice-Chancellor, Tura Campus, in the larger interest of the University and its stakeholders,” the letter said.
The unions claim assurances from the Ministry’s representatives to address the crisis haven’t been implemented, and the Pro VC’s continuation in office is “no longer tenable”.
They’ve given a 24-hour ultimatum for a response, threatening further action if not received.
“You are hereby requested to communicate your decision within 24 hours from the receipt of this letter, failing which the undersigned bodies shall be compelled to take further steps in accordance with their collective decision and democratic mandate,” the letter said.
