Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, his two deputies and ministers were also not present.
A few officers attended the office.
The state government resumed work on January 2 (Friday) after a long holiday since the last working day on December 19.
Sources said that the government should have declared January 2 as a holiday to be compensated later instead of keeping it as a working day due to the weekend holidays.
As January 3 (Saturday) and 4 ( Sunday) are holidays, the next working day will be on January 5.
