Shillong, Jan 9: Police arrested a drug peddler in East Jaintia Hills on Friday.
He was identified as Kheinkor Muliar @ Khein (23), son of Wanless Dkhar, a resident of Mookympad Village near Soo Kilo area.
According to the police, the team from Khliehriat police station detained Muliar, who was driving his vehicle (ML06A 0621). In the presence of independent witnesses, a body search was conducted as per law, and a container of orange colour powder substance suspected to be heroin was recovered.
Other recoveries are an empty golden tobacco container, twenty-five syringes, and his vehicle ML06A 0621.
Preliminary testing with the help of the NDPS test kit confirmed the suspected NDPS substance, and the result was positive.
The net weight is 1.37 gms.
Police said the accused person was involved in drug peddling in the Soo Kilo market area and nearby places.
After his arrest, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
