Govt extends service of retired officers

Shillong, Jan 16: The state cabinet has extended the service of Superintendent Engineer K Wahlang in the Directorate of Urban Affairs for three months.
After chairing the cabinet meeting on Friday, Chief Minister ConradĀ Sangma said, “There was extension of the service of one of the superintendent engineers in the Directorate of Urban Affairs for three months. The service of K Wahlang has been extended for three months and this is necessitated because of the large numbers of projects today that is taking place and would affect the overall functioning of the projects and the works that is going on.”
The chief minister explained that the extension was necessary to ensure the smooth implementation of ongoing projects. “Keeping that in mind we have extended his services by three months,” he said.
The government has also decided to re-engage and extend the services of two retired officials – Robert Lyngdoh as Officer on Special Duty and Ex-Officio Secretary for the Government of Meghalaya in the Planning Department and in the Meghalaya Age Limited, and Bruce P Marak as Adviser in the Meghalaya Integrated Transport project, a World Bank project.
“We have decided to extend the services of Robert Lyngdoh… and Bruce P Marak, who was a retired chief engineer,” Sangma said.
