Shillong, Feb 13: Villagers handed over three bike lifters to police in Umthli under Pynursla police station, on Friday.
The accused persons are Pyndapborlang Khonglah, Bamkerlang Surong, and Iohborlang Mylliem Umlong.
In a statement, the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said that the arrest followed a complaint by Rahul Thapa, who reported that his motorcycle (ML 05 AC 4622, YAMAHA MT 15) was stolen from Goenka Compound parking lot.
A case has been registered under Sadar PS Case no 42(02)2026 u/s 305 (b) BNS.
An ML 05Z 5650 Hyundai i10, ML 05N 4146 Alto 800, 1 Vivo mobile phone, 1 Samsung mobile phone and 1 Poco mobile phone were seized from their possession.
Investigation is ongoing to determine their involvement in other two-wheeler thefts, Syiem added.
