Indian Para-cycling team shines at Asian championships
Hyderabad, Feb 14: The Indian Para-cycling team, trained under the Aditya Mehta Foundation, delivered an inspiring performance at the Asian Road Cycling Championships held in the Al-Qassim Region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, concluding their campaign with pride and powerful results.
Leading the charge was 16-year-old Vishva Vasani (WC3), who clinched two Silver Medals in the Individual Time Trial and Road Race, marking a breakthrough moment for Indian para-cycling on the continental stage.
Strong top-five finishes further highlighted India’s rising momentum in various categories and events, with Prashant Arkal (Handcycling H4) and Shaik Arshad (MC2) securing 4th positions, Kommoji Pavan Kumar (MC3) finishing 5th, Anshuman (MC1, 14 years) claiming 5th, Cheelampalli Aryavardan (MC2) placing 6th, and Yogesh Ahire (Hand Cycling H3) finishing 7th.
Competing against Asia’s best, the team showcased resilience, discipline, and world-class preparation. A total of nine countries participated in Para-cycling Asian Championship.
The foundation extended heartfelt gratitude to supporters Invesco, Alcon, GMMCO, and Flutter Entertainment India (for supporting adult paracyclists), whose continued backing strengthens India’s para-sport movement.
With medals, multiple top finishes, and growing international confidence, the Indian Para Cycling Team returns home having once again proven that grit, preparation, and belief can turn the start line into a podium moment.
