Meghalaya wins gold, bronze in National MTB downhill category
Shillong, Feb 15: Taitus Ch. Marak and Meban Aiboklang Suiam of the Meghalaya team won gold and bronze, respectively, in the downhill category of the 22nd National Mountain Terrain Biking (MTB) Championship in Roing town of Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district.
The four-day national championship had 512 riders from 29 states. This was the first time that Arunachal Pradesh hosted the event, which commenced on February 12. Teams from the Indian Army and the Indian Airforce also participated.
The event was organised by the Arunachal Cycling Association under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India. There were both men and women categories across multiple age groups.
Among other riders from Meghalaya were Aldon Jc Shylla, Apshai G Niangti and Willbornson Wahlang in the downhill category; Wester Ryntathiang and Meshain Kyndait in the XCT-Cross-country time trial; and Kevinjohn Khyllait in the XCO-Cross-country Olympic.
In the XCO category, Sharai Basaiamoit was under 23 and Kevin Lyngdoh Sangriang was under 18.
