Philatelic exhibition held in city

Shillong, Feb 23: The District Level Philatelic Exhibition SHILLPEX–2026 was inaugurated on February 20 by Brig. K. J. Singh in the presence of KVL. N. Murty, DPS, HQ NE Circle, Shillong; SSPOs, Meghalaya Postal Division; Ishan Gupta, Chief Minister’s Security; the Principal of Army Public School, and others.
The two-day exhibition showcased a wide array of philatelic collections, highlighting the educational and cultural significance of stamp collecting. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from school students across the district.
Various competitions including letter writing, stamp design, extempore speech, and quiz were organised to encourage young minds to explore the fascinating world of philately. The final round of the quiz competition was conducted on February 21, followed by the prize distribution ceremony where winners were felicitated.
The exhibition concluded with a closing ceremony on February 21 marking the successful culmination of SHILLPEX–2026.
According to the organisers, the event served as an inspiring platform to promote philately among students and the general public while fostering creativity and knowledge about India’s rich postal heritage.
