Syngkon attended by a nurse in Mawiong CHC
No doctor after 4 pm; staff acted promptly: Minister

Shillong, Feb 24: Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Tuesday clarified that when Shillong MP Ricky Syngkon was brought, he was attended by a nurse.
Speaking to reporters, Shylla said the Medical Officer on call was informed.

The minister admitted that after 4 pm, there was no doctor at the CHC as the latter completed the day’s duty from 10 am to 4 pm.
The minister narrated the sequence of events.
Sequence of events at Mawiong CHC on February 19
“1. 6.53 pm: 108 Emergency call center received the call about the event and an Ambulance was dispatched immediately to Mawiongrim playground from Lawmali.
2. At approximately 7:15 PM, Hon’ble MP Dr Ricky A.J. Syngkon was brought to the Emergency Room of Mawiong CHC by accompanying persons, following a reported collapse while playing football at a nearby ground.
3. On arrival, the patient was unconscious and unresponsive. Initial assessment revealed: Blood pressure not recordable. Pulse not palpable
4. The patient was immediately attended by the Staff Nurse on emergency duty, and the Medical Officer on call was intimated.
5. Oxygen support was initiated promptly.
6. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was administered
7. Despite these resuscitative efforts, the patient did not respond.
8. In view of the critical condition and non-response to initial resuscitation, the patient party was informed of the need for immediate referral to a higher facility.
9. Referral and transport: At approximately 7:20 PM, arrangements were made for transfer.
10. The patient was shifted with oxygen support by the Mawiong CHC ambulance.
11. The ambulance reached H. Robert Gordon Hospital at approximately 7:40 PM, where the patient was handed over to the emergency team for further management”.
