Shillong, March 13: Meghalaya State Commission for Women has honoured 11 young achievers in various fields.
The young achievers are Rifiness Warjri ( mountaineer), Minerva Wahlang( commercial pilot), Dakahi Kyndait( Marathon runner), Sawakani Lakiang(body builder), 11- year- old Shelevah N Jyrwa (winner of Sur Kynud Season-4, Phoebe Dale Nongrum ( professional race car driver), Cyra Rayzel C Lywai, author of two books at the age of 9, Alia Deisaka Lyngdoh (Taekwondo athlete), Jude Maynard Khyriem ( holder of Indian Book of Records 2025 at the age of 3, Monica Lyngdoh Phawa (captain of women’s under 23 cricket team ) and Sanfida Nongrum ( footballer)
At a function held in the city as part of the women’s day celebrations on Friday, the chairperson of the women’s commission, Iamon Syiem, recalled the contribution of the young achievers.
MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh stressed the need of empowering women in Meghalaya on the occasion.
