NGO discusses cross border security

Shillong, April 11:FANS Meghalaya Chapter organised a talk on Wednesday at Meghalaya Human Rights Commission, Conference Room on the topic “Cross border security and Internal stability in North East India:- Challenges and Responses”.

The programme was graced by Vikramaditya Singh, National General Secretary ( Org) FANS.

Other Speakers in the programme were Bijan Kumar Dey IPS ( Retd) Former Secretary Security, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, Ambassador Riewad V Warjri, Dr Anup Sekhar Chakraborty, Associate Professor Political Science, NEHU.

Vikramaditya in his address said “ Those opposed to the peace and development in the North East are opposed to the rise of India . They realise the economic and strategic potential of the region and hence want to disturb the bond of the people of the NE among themselves and with the rest of the nation.

The locals should create a social network against these neo colonial groups to deter foreign nationals to move across borders so freely with arms and drones. The people of the NE are awakening to their shared heritage and challenges .The world will have to come to terms with it, he said.

Prominent citizens from different fields  participated in the discussion.

FANS Meghalaya comprises President Peter J Hanaman, IPS ( Retd), Deeya Rathore, State Co-ordinator and General Secretary FANS Meghalaya, Vice President FANS Meghalaya include Sr Advocate SP Mahanta,  Santaram Joshi and Senior Advocate Anuradha Paul, Treasurer is  Vijay Goyal and Secretary Bhuvan Singh Rathore.

Forum For Awareness Of National Security (Rashtriya Suraksha Jagaran Manch) also known as FANS is an organisation which believes in the concept of one nation and aims to create awareness in matters of national security amongst citizens. With its head office in Delhi, Fans has chapters in many States across the country and in Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh in the North East.
