Shillong, April 18: Police yet again found rage angle in the murder of a woman by the accused Kenedy Khongsit (32) from Nongrah.
Khongsit was arrested earlier in connection with the killing of a 7-year-old boy in Nongrah, in anger.
The police got eight days’ custody of Khongsit, arrested for the murder of the 39-year-old woman.
The police have completed reconstruction of the crime scene based on his admission.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said Kenedy Khongsit, recently arrested for the murder of a 7-year-old boy, has been remanded to 8 days of police custody for the murder of the 39-year-old woman, Eilang Phawa.
“We got 8 days custody for Kennedy Khongsit and in this case, we have done a substantial amount of interrogation and today we have done reconstruction on his admission to the crime,” Syiem stated.
The SP said Khongsit led the police team to the site in the presence of independent witnesses.
“He has led the police team in the presence of independent witnesses and reconstructed the crime as to how he had committed the crime and where he had taken her behind the house. He took her to a public toilet and slapped her and disposed of the body in a sack. So, that is the gist of the reconstruction”, Syiem said.
He said the special investigation team is working to file the chargesheet soon.
“The SIT will be endeavouring to charge sheet the case as early as possible,” he said.
Regarding the motive, the SP said initial interrogation pointed to rage.
“The motive is though he had befriended her , he got irritated and in a reaction to his irritation caused by her he had slapped her. It seems that she was teasing him saying something which he didn’t like. Rage is the reason l,” Syiem said.
He cllsaidKhongsit’s psychological assessment has been completed.
“His psychological assessment has been done and he is found to be mentally stable,” he added.
On the background of the acco, Syiem said, “Regarding his background, that is yet to be seen.”
