Shillong,April 18: The Manipuri Elders’ Consortium Shillong (MECS) held a silent sit-in against the killing of two children in Manipur on April 7.
The gathering called for unity, justice, and a collective voice for peace and humanity.
“We condemned the killing of two innocent children in the recent attack that happened in Manipur on April 7, 2026,” President of MECS TS Leima told reporters on the sidelines of the protest held at Don Bosco square, Laitumkhrah here.
“We express our solidarity with the families of the victims and appeal to the government to take swift action and to bring those people who had committed the crime,” she said.
Leima said the Manipur violence is an eye-opener for the rest of the country that illegal immigrants are the cause of such types of incidents that has happened and the nation should learn that if we do not control the illegal immigrants then there is no guarantee that such things will also not happen in other parts of the country.
