Guv, CM & Speaker among others enumerate on Day 1

Shillong, May 1: Meghalaya Governor C H Vijayashankar, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Speaker were among the first to initiate self enumeration for census 2026.

The Governor called upon the people of the state to actively participate in the self-enumeration process of the Housing Census and House Listing under Census 2027, which commenced in Meghalaya from May 1.

In a message, the governor said that the self-enumeration initiative marks a significant step towards ensuring accurate and comprehensive data collection.

The chief minister said he was glad to go for self enumeration.

 This process marks India’s first digital census. I encourage all residents to take part in the self-enumeration process and help make this important national exercise faster, smoother, and more efficient”, the chief minister said.
