Mahila Cong asks govt to stop LPG black marketing

Shillong, May 12: The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress has expressed surprise over black marketing of LPG cylinders during the crisis,
“There seems to be no shortage at all when it comes to the black market sale of LPG cylinders. While ordinary citizens are struggling to obtain gas through proper channels, illegal sellers are openly charging exorbitant prices of Rs 3000 to Rs 4000 per cylinder. How can the common public afford such exploitation?, said the Mahila Congress leader Joplyn Scott Shylla.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, she asked the authorities concerned to immediately take stock of the crisis and launch strict action against those involved in the black marketing of LPG cylinders. “The silence and inaction of the government on this issue is deeply disturbing, especially when the burden is falling heavily on poor families and women across the state”, Shylla said.
