Hajong body seeks anwers on mysterious death of couple in city
No postmortem report yet even after one month
Shillong, July 23: The Hajong Students Youth Voice (HSYV) – Federation Council, has expressed anguish over the delay in proper probe into the death of Hajong couple-Prinomi Hajong and Simanta Hajong.
They were found dead in an open space near the footpath below Alaya bar and cafe.
“The fact is that more than one month has passed since the tragic death of Prinomi Hajong and Late Simanta Hajong on June 14 yet their families continue to wait for the post-mortem report”, said a statement issued by the student body.
“For the world, it may be another passing day. For the parents, brothers, sisters, relatives, and loved ones, every sunrise brings the same unanswered questions, the same pain, and the same hope that today may finally bring clarity”, it said.
The silence surrounding the post-mortem report has left the families living with uncertainty. They are not asking for sympathy alone—they are waiting for answers that can help them understand the fate of their children and begin the long journey toward healing,it said.
This tragedy is not only the loss of two young Hajong lives; it is a moment that has deeply touched the conscience of the community. The memories of Prinomi Hajong and Simanta Hajong continue to live in the hearts of everyone who knew them, and their families deserve to know the truth through the lawful process.
“HSYV firmly believes that truth, transparency, and justice strengthen public confidence. We therefore hope that the remaining procedures will be completed as early as possible so that the families can receive the post-mortem report and the investigation may continue with complete fairness and dignity. As a responsible student and youth organisation, HSYV will continue to stand peacefully with the bereaved families. Our commitment is not driven by anger but by humanity, not by accusation but by the belief that every life deserves truth and every grieving family deserves answers.One month has passed, but the pain has not.
