Shillong, July 23: The North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union has came out in support of activist Sonam Wangchuk and students across India protesting the NEET paper leak.
It called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The Hynniewtrep Youth Council organised a public meeting and told students protesting and facing police action at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi that they are not alone.
HYC president Roykupar Synrem said the turnout in Shillong was meant to send a clear message to the Centre.
“From the Hills of Shillong, we want to send a message to our fellow youths in New Delhi: you are not alone. The people of Meghalaya are with you, the youth of Meghalaya are with you. Keep fighting,” he said.
Synrem said the pain of students in Delhi was being felt across Meghalaya.
In a statement, NEHUSU said the leak has eroded trust in the country’s examination system and put the burden of systemic failures on students.
“Every competitive examination represents years of hard work, sleepless nights, financial sacrifices, and the dreams of countless young people. Yet, when the system fails, it is always the students who are left to suffer,” the union said.
NEHUSU also condemned reports of force being used against peaceful protesters.
Take action against BJP leader
The Hynniewtrep Youth Council on demanded that the state BJP take disciplinary action against its Youth Wing president and urged police to examine whether his comments warrant legal action.
HYC president Roykupar Synrem said the BJP leader’s remarks targeting protesters were irresponsible and unbecoming of someone in a public position.
“.He is an educated person. He should have made his statement in a responsible manner,” Synrem told reporters.
Earlier, hundreds of people gathered in a peaceful demonstration at Laitumkhrah, to express solidarity with students protesting at Jantar Mantar against NEET paper leaks.
The protesters said the aim was to stand with students in Delhi who were allegedly beaten and tear-gassed by police during their protest.
