Shillong, Oct 10: VPP president Ardent Basaiawmoit has criticised the BJP over the induction of eight former UDP MLAs, and said that any party can gain entry through the backdoor if it is willing to spend.
In response to the merger, Basaiawmoit said, “I think it is not only BJP, any party can come through the backdoor if they are willing to spend and invest. The BJP is desperate to form a government in Meghalaya for reasons best known to them. But I am sure people of Meghalaya will still reject the BJP in the general elections.”

“We don’t see any scope for expansion of BJP as far as Meghalaya is concerned,” he added.
