Shillong, Sept 10: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said he would examine if there is any need to call the protesters for talks.
The leaders of Voice of Mawlai People continue to hold protests by demanding action against police personnel involved in the killing of former HNLC general secretary Cherishstarfield Thangkhiew.
“We will examine the matter,” Sangma told reporters on Friday while reacting to a question as to whether the government would call the protesters for talks on the issue.
The chief minister also refused to comment on the Voice of Mawlai People surrendering knives at the secretariat gate.
“Whatever provisions are there, the law will take its own course,” he said.
He also reminded that the government has already made its stand very clear on the demand of the people.
“My stand is very clear, I have made a statement two days back that the judicial inquiry is on and until the judicial inquiry is not completed there is no question of taking any action because it will be unfair, the judicial inquiry will bring out the facts and when the facts come out then we will take decision,” Sangma said.
