Kennedy’s priority is to fight against corruption
Shillong,Oct 30: Mawphlang Congress candidate Kennedy C Khyriem said his top priority would be to fight against corruption and misgovernance if he is reelected.
“I expect to win this byelection and my priority would be to fight against corruption and misgovernance,” Khyriem told reporters after casting his vote.
Khyriem is contesting against UDP candidate Eugeneson Lyngdoh and former party man and sitting Mawphlang MDC Lamphrang Blah, who recently joined NPP.
Khyriem said though sympathy wave will not work to a great extent, he admitted that Lyngdoh is his closest rival.
“However, I don’t feel that the NPP candidate will give me a tough fight. Although Blah came out of the Congress, hardly 10 per cent he could carry the votes but 90 per cent is still intact, they are with the Congress,” he claimed.
On the use of money power, he said the opponents have lots of money as they are in government. “I can’t say but I heard people say that the NPP is throwing money left and right, even UDP also but I don’t have any proof.”
